About Yavanna Art

Yavanna is a self-taught artist based in New Zealand. She works primarily with charcoal to create hyper-realistic and surreal drawings. Her works can be found in exhibitions and in private collections.

Over the years she has had multiple awards and achievements including:

• Winner of the Academy Prize for Visual Arts 2025

• Merit Awards in the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts

• Gold and Bronze Awards in the Camelback Gallery

• Artwork displayed in the New Zealand Parliament building

• Finalist in the Aspiring Art Awards

• Finalist in the Parkin Drawing Prize

 

Her artworks are inspired by impressive and fascinating designs in nature. Her work is based off carefully edited and curated reference photos taken by herself, or from a photographer and used with permission. Often multiple reference photos are used for one image.​
